If you have reached this site is because you are interested in Astrology; but perhaps you are among those who have never really recognized themselves with the characteristics of the Zodiacal Sign attributed by Tropical Astrology. Wondering why, being a peaceful Taurus, you are always looking for situations with a good condiment of risk or, as being an Aries, you are a talented painter and love Mozart (and not Beetoven)? As I used to ask myself why, as a jolly good fellow Sagittarius, I was naturally reserved and so little able to entertain people… So you have arrived to the right site !

It is time to move to Sidereal Astrolgy! Well you: there is an ancient and original Astrology that takes as a reference the stars and not the spring equinox and relative seasons, like the one used today in the West (called Tropical Astrology). The Western Sidereal Astrology was used by the Babylonians and Egyptians. There are the same planets, including the outer ones, the same system of personal fields, but the reference with the vault of heaven is no longer symbolic and linked to the seasons, but astronomical. In practice what does it change? The difference (ayanamsa) between the two systems is almost a sign and for this reason often by reading the Sidereal Chart you may discover yourself belonging to another Constellation… the peaceful Taurus discovers himself anew with an Aries like nature… and the painter recognizes the inspiration of Pisces and I myself had to admit my nature of Scorpio. We are thus given the opportunity to observe our behavioral trends and potentialities in a completely new perspective! Or that, for example: Venus in your natal chart is no longer in Aries but in Pisces… it can explain why you have little initiative in love and are so deeply sensitive and why in courtship you do prefer romantic attitudes rather than aggressive ones; or your Moon from Capricornus moves to Sagittarius and here you understand why you are so little comfortable in wearing suits and prefer a more creative style and why you are not so ready to sacrifice everything for career, and would rather do it for inner search and travel. Or have you ever asked yourself why usually, when an astrologer properly and wisely interprets your transits, then, if true, they manifest in advance of the indicated dates, making it an almost useless prediction? That's because the calculations of Tropical Astrology do not respect the true motion of celestial bodies! That's why.

For those of you who may not be familiar with this subject matter, it is good to remember that:

Two Zodiacs are known in Astrology: the Sidereal Zodiac and the Tropical Zodiac. The first is a stellar Zodiac which takes as a reference the fixed stars of the firmament (Aldebaran and Antares or Spica), it was used by ancient Babylonians and Egyptians and today by Vedic astrologers. The second one is based on seasonal cycles on earth; it was introduced by the Greeks when it was believed that the earth was the centre of a fixed Universe. The Tropical system takes as a reference the spring equinox, defining it as 0° degrees of Aries. So it was in fact 19 centuries ago, at the Ptolemy time! But because of precession of the equinoxes the Signs of the Tropical Zodiac no longer correspond to the original Constellations from which they took and still preserve the names. The phenomenon of precession of the equinoxes was known to Egyptians, this knowledge probably went lost toghether with the ancient Egyptian stellar catalogues with the disastrous fire of the library of Alexandria, thus leaving room for a distorted vision from the medioeval age to the present day. Realising that the traditional Tropical Zodiac no longer corresponds to heaven apparently can produce confusion, but sheds a new light on the meaning of Astrology and especially on what its practice can tell us about ourselves ...

Sidereal Western Astrology (not to be confused with the Vedic Astrology or Jyotish), refounded by Cyril Fagan in the last century, thanks to its archaeological reconstruction of the Babylonian Zodiac, reports the Chart of the sky to the real position of the stars and planets, as described by Astronomy, so reorienting us in our galaxy, and therefore revealing profound insights about our models of behavior.
